Wedding FAQs
Do you offer photography packages?
YES! See the rates page for details.
What kind of cameras do you use?
The big black ones that say Canon on the front.
Do you shoot digital or film?
It’s the digital age, baby!
Do you offer a photobooth?
Yes! This adds another dimension to the whole event- it gives the guests an opportunity to take their own photos with their own personalities showcased (with the help of props, of course), without taking the Photographer’s time away from the rest of the party. You can see an example from my personal graduation party of what you can expect: Photobooth Example- Graduation Party. You will receive a separate DVD containing the individual photos, as well as a video montage put to music, as seen in the example. Other photographers rave about the popularity of their photobooth, and I am excited to add it to my repertoire.
Do you photograph the formal, posed photos too?
Absolutely! This is a special time where the bride and groom can take photos with family and friends in a formalized setting. I would recommend making a list of important shots (ie- bride with mother, bride and groom with bride’s side of family, groom with frat boys, bride and groom with all cousins, etc). I also recommend having one “point person” that is in charge of the list that can organize the next group (“on deck”), and even the up-coming second group (“in the hole”) to decrease idle time, increase efficiency, and provide more time for partying! Photos with the wedding party can be included in this time and/or we can have a special time allotted to these photos for more artistic-type photos, but this is obviously up to the bride and groom.
How many proofs should I expect to see from my wedding?
While I do not limit the number of photos taken during an event, I would estimate 200-400 on the final DVD of images- depending on the length of time that I am booked for.
Do you use a second shooter?
This is a tricky question. I have a few photographer friends who shoot weddings, but they charge more than I do. So, if I hired them to come along with me, the final price would be more than double my rates. So at this time, no, I do not use a second shooter.
HOWEVER, if you have a friend who does photography, or you would like to hire two photographers, we can work out having the two of us work collaboratively. This would have to be in writing, of course, since my contracts state that I am the sole photographer.
What happens if you are sick or injured and cannot shoot our wedding?
I will do my absolute best to find a replacement at the last minute. This would include frantic phone calls, e-mails, and hand-to-hand combat. If I am unsuccessful, I will refund your deposit and pray for the best.
What if we decide to change the date of the wedding?
If I am available, then we will simply change the contract to reflect the changes. If I am not available, the contract will be voided, and we will part ways. Your non-refundable deposit will be lost.
If we decide to book you, what is the process? Can I take a copy of the contract home with me to read before I sign it?
If we meet in person, I will bring a contract for you to take home and look over before signing. If we do not meet in person, I will e-mail you a PDF file. When the final contract is drafted and agreed upon, we can either meet in person to sign it (preferred), or you and your future spouse can sign two copies and mail them to me. I will sign them and mail back your copy. Your date will be held only after the deposit is made and contract is signed.
Are the photos copyrighted? Are we allowed to make our own prints?
Yes, and yes. The DVD would be accompanied with a “print release” letter, so you would be able to make your own prints. The copyright would still belong to me, but you would be able to make copies, post them on Facebook, etc. You may also use your images to create albums such as those on Shutterfly, Artscow, and Snapfish. I would just ask for the courtesy of giving Ultimate Photography (Joanna Albert) credit for the work.
About how long will it take to receive our wedding photos?
I get really excited about weddings, so it only takes a few days to choose my favorites and make a blog entry about it. I will also post the preview photos on Facebook.
You can expect to receive the DVD of all images in the mail in 4-6 weeks.
How do you light your images?
I try to use natural light whenever possible. In my opinion, it is much more attractive and produces gorgeous images. However, when natural light is not enough, I have an external flash that I can mount onto the camera or hold off to the side.
Do you offer a Military discount?
Yes, 20%! Thank you for your service!
